Dunkin' Donuts to open new Poughkeepsie location, replace nearby spot
Dunkin' Donuts is creating another drive-thru location in Poughkeepsie, which is expected to employ nearly three dozen people and replace an existing, smaller spot.
The fast-food chain plans to open an eatery at the Red Oaks Mill Shopping Center, replacing a location across the street at 35 Vassar Road. A proposal for the location brought before the town of Poughkeepsie Planning Board calls for the remodel of an existing bank building at 48 Vassar Road.
The building features an existing drive-thru window, although the proposal calls for a small addition to accommodate pickups.
Openings: This fast food chain is opening at the former Carl's Jr. in Poughkeepsie
Route 9: Fast food, Jiffy Lube among businesses coming to Route 9 in Dutchess County
Golden Corral: International Buffet to replace chain restaurant in Poughkeepsie
The project is expected to create up to 35 jobs, with seven employees working at any one time, per the proposal.
The proposal was last presented to the Planning Board at a Nov. 18 meeting, per the town agenda.
Dutchess County is home to an abundance of Dunkin' Donuts locations with six town of Poughkeepsie installations alone, according to the chain's website.
The existing Dunkin' Donuts at Red Oaks Mill is part of a Gulf gas station. The new restaurant would exclusively serve as a Dunkin' Donuts.
The chain specializes in coffee drinks, breakfast and lunch options. It features a rotation of seasonal offerings, including peppermint lattes and white mocha hot chocolate.
Numerous chain restaurants are in the process of opening locations in Dutchess County, including McDonald's, Taco Bell, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and more.
