2023 CMA Awards: Lainey Wilson performs 'Wildflowers and Wild ...

Lainey Wilson, 31, has been writing songs for 22 years.

In the case of "Wildflowers and Wild Horses," the songs have a different arc of potential now than ever before.

It's already excelled both onstage and as a branding platform for the multiple-time Country Music Association award-winner. Now, via the 2023 CMA Awards, it's also heralded her live performance arrival on broadcast television at a new level of country and popular music superstardom.

"With every one of these moments, I'm stepping more into who I really am," stated the performer to The Tennessean.

"Somehow, I'm put in these incredible moments where I'm allowed to [achieve and do things] that make me more assured in myself. They're challenging, but I love being challenged."

"I love what I'm doing right now," Wilson continued. "As much as it's about the trophies on my shelf and the growth in support for my career, I'm more excited by re-blazing the trails that artists like Dolly and Reba cut -- but maybe making sure that it never feels like there isn't someone at the front [and multiple others] continuing to blaze trails too."
