The No. 7 Wildcats head to play the No. 14 Rebels as betting underdogs despite a higher ranking

We are down to five teams in SEC who are undefeated entering Week 5. Two of those teams will face off on Saturday when No. 7 Kentucky will face No. 14 Ole Miss. After Lane Kiffin's 35-27 win against Tulsa last week, the Rebels are favorites to win this game. Ole Miss has been dominant at the ground, running for more than 1,100 yards in three games, thanks to a terrifying three-headed running back attack consisting of Zach Evans, Quinshon Judkins and Ulysses Bentley IV.

Kentucky is also off to a strong start. The Wildcats defeated Florida 26-16 in Week 2 and have risen up the rankings. Quarterback Will Levis is a highly efficient player, completing 67.5% his passes for 1,185 yards in four games and 10 touchdowns. The defense has not retreated from its position early.

Ole Miss has defeated Kentucky twice in its last two games -- the only matchups of the last decade thanks to the SEC divisional scheduling model. The wins in 2020 and 2017 were won by four points each. In the most recent matchup, Chris Rodriguez, Kentucky's running back, rushed for 133 yards with two touchdowns. Ole Miss has a 28-14-1 record all-time.

Kentucky vs. Ole Miss: What do you need to know?

Rodriguez's return: The Wildcats rank No. The Wildcats rank No. 121 nationally in rushing success rates, but these numbers will quickly change. Rodriguez, the most prominent returning running back in SEC, will be back this week. Kavosiey smoke has been a good player, but Rodriguez rushed for 1,379 yards and scored nine touchdowns in 2021 to lead Kentucky's 10-win season. Kentucky will have another gear if Rodriguez is teamed up with the offensive cast that has starred in the first four games.

Strength on strength: Kentucky coach Mark Stoops came to Kentucky as a defensive mind, and the Wildcats have been lethal against the run. UK allows only 3.7 yards per run and has held Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson down to four yards rushing. The Rebels are, however, the most prolific rushing team in SEC. They have a nearly 40-yard advantage. Either Evans, or Judkins, has rushed for at least 100 yards in each game this season. Something has to give.

Quarterback battle Will Levis and Jaxson Dart, a blue-chip transfer from USC, are the two most talked about quarterbacks of the offseason. The Kentucky passing game has been more productive than ever, with Levis allowing more than 10 yards per pass attempt. His only problem has been his four-to-four interceptions. Dart has been a little less efficient than expected, but he has been more steady. Dart is completing 62.2%, but has rushed more than 200 yards. The game will be decided by Saturday's performance.

Kentucky vs. Ole Miss prediction, picks

Despite their lower ranking, the Rebels are strong favorites going into the matchup. But don't forget the Wildcats. Kentucky has a significant defensive advantage and more experience at the quarterback position. Although Ole Miss' offense is well-known, Dart has not been tested against a high quality defense. This week, that will change. Prediction: Kentucky +7
