Yoko Ono marks John Lennon's death with gun violence message

The source for the statistics in Ono’s posting is unclear. The CDC reported there were more than 39,000 gun-related deaths in the U.S. in 2019. At that annual average, Ono’s graphic would be slightly modest, though a bit short on context. Fewer than 15,000 gun deaths in 2019 were homicides. Nearly 24,000 of those violent deaths were by suicide and more than 1,300 were due to other reasons.
