Joann fabric closing 500 stores, including 3 in Kansas. Is Topeka on ...

Topeka's Joann fabrics location will remain open despite the company announcing it would be closing around 500 stores around the country.
The announcement comes after the company began bankruptcy proceedings on Jan. 15 and has started "right-sizing" the footprint of the store across the United States.
"This was a very difficult decision to make, given the major impact we know it will have on our Team Members, our customers and all of the communities we serve," a spokesperson for Joann said about the closures.
Joann said the decision on which locations it would close came after analysis of store performance as well as "future strategic fit" for the company.
According to the company's main website, Joann operates about 850 stores in 49 states.
Which Joann stores in Kansas are set to close?
In Kansas, three stores were announced among those to close, including those in Salina, Lawrence and one of two locations in Wichita.
Other locations in the state, including in Topeka, 1133 S.W. Wanamaker Road, Suite 200, and the Kansas City area, are set to remain open at this time.
A customer FAQ on the company's restructuring website said going-out-of-business sales would likely begin at impacted stores beginning on Feb. 15.
"In the meantime, JOANN stores and JOANN.com are open in the ordinary course and continue to serve customers," the FAQ said. "Team Members are continuing to receive pay and benefits."
