’Homeland’ final season: How to watch, live stream, TV channel, time

Carrie Mathison's story is coming to an end. In tonight's premiere, she goes to Afghanistan after many months in Russian captivity.

It’s the beginning of the end for Homeland. The final season of Homeland, season eight, is premiering tonight, Sunday, Feb. 9, at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime. Season seven aired two years ago, so fans will finally get to see what will happen to former CIA operations officer Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes).

The season seven finale showed Carrie being released from a Russian prison after seven months of captivity. Carrie was denied her bipolar medication and has lost some of her memory. The beginning of season eight focuses on her rehabilitation and coping with PTSD. Worried that she gave up some important intel to the Russians, she doesn’t entirely trust herself. She also has a very important assignment in Afghanistan, where most of the final season is filmed.

“I loved the idea that Carrie is positioned as this suspected traitor — a Brody,” Claire Danes says told Entertainment Weekly. “That’s such a perfect parallel and fun to play; she’s struggling from PTSD and doesn’t know how to narrate her own story.”
