Game Preview: Fever at Liberty – Indiana Fever

Indiana Fever vs. New York Liberty Sunday, June 2. Barclays Center| 7 p.m. ET. Broadcast Information MeTV/NBA TV. Probable Starters. Indiana Fever (2-8).

Searching for the first winning streak of the 2022 regular season and a Commissioner’s Cup victory, the Indiana Fever head to take on the New York Liberty at Barclays Center tonight at 8 p.m. ET for the first of three meetings this season.

Indiana continues to be led by the fifth leading scorer in the league with Kelsey Mitchell averaging 19.7 points through the first three games of the season, including a season-high 26 points last time out in a win against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday.

After winning its home opener in Sandy Brondello’s debut as Liberty head coach against the Connecticut Sun, 81-79, the Liberty fell at Chicago, 83-50, on Wednesday night. The Sky led 36-17 at halftime after holding New York to 20 percent shooting, including 1-of-12 from 3-point range. It was the lowest point total in a half since Connecticut had 15 on Sept. 1, 2015. Chicago was 10-of-22 from 3-point range, while New York was just 20-of-60 from the field overall.

Han Xu, the tallest active player in the WNBA at 6-foot-10, scored 10 points for New York, while Natasha Howard and Betnijah Laney each scored eight points, and Stefanie Dolson scored six against her former team.

Indiana will look to have another successful night defensively from beyond the arc. Indiana has made more 3-point field goals than opponents in every game this season, after only doing so three games the entire 2021 season.

The Fever return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to meet the Atlanta Dream for a pair of home games. Sunday and Tuesday will be the first of six back-to-back Fever matchups this year facing the same opponent consecutively during the 2022 campaign.

Following the back-to-back series with Atlanta, Indiana will return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to welcome back the 2012 WNBA title team on Sunday, May 22. Players and staff from the team who helped capture the first title in franchise history will be recognized on the court throughout Sunday’s game at 2 p.m. ET against the Connecticut Sun. Tickets are still available to purchase by visiting FeverBasketball.com. Fans are encouraged to wear red to the game to commemorate the ‘Red Out’ during Game 4 of the WNBA Finals when Indiana eliminated the Minnesota Lynx.
