Hip-hop icon Fatman Scoop suffered a medical emergency and collapsed on stage at a concert in Hamden, Connecticut, according to multiple reports.

Witnesses told TMZ that the rapper and radio personality passed out behind the DJ booth around 8:30 p.m. Friday night. People rushed over to administer CPR as the music stopped, and video showed chest compressions being performed on Fatman Scoop.

Hamden mayor Lauren Garrett confirmed that Fatman Scoop had a “medical emergency” at Hamden Town Center Park. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital, and his condition is currently unknown.

“We will provide updates when they are available,” Garrett said. “Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”

Fatman Scoop, whose real name is Isaac Freeman II, is a 53-year-old rapper and hype man whose booming voice is heard on hits like Missy Elliott’s Grammy-winning “Lose Control” and Mariah Carey’s “It’s Like That,” plus his 1999 club favorite “Be Faithful” (feat. Crooklyn Clan). He also collaborated with artists like Ying Yang Twins, Rihanna, Kat DeLuna, Chingy, David Guetta, LL Cool J, Timbaland & Magoo, Ciara, Skrillex, and DJ Kool.

“Prayers up for fatman scoop !” rapper Juicy J wrote on X.

“I can’t even remember attending a party growing up without hearing a Fatman Scoop x Crooklyn Clan Party Break. He had the ability to not only give hit records more energy & make them better but he made them HIS. His party breaks were legitimately cheat codes for DJs. You could cut on a Fatman Scoop Party break & it could get a similar reaction to the hottest record in the world,” Ringer host Raheem Palmer wrote. “Life is so short.”
