JACKSON, Tenn – Many West Tennesseans heard a loud boom Thursday morning and some felt the ground shake. We heard from many viewers seeking answers as to what the noise was and what shook the ground.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed late Thursday morning the area experienced a 2.6 earthquake in northeast Jackson.
According to the USGS, the earthquake hit the area at 10:28 a.m. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said there have been no reports of injuries or property damage as a result of the earthquake. Officials are encouraging all residents to check their homes and property for any structural damage.
