The truth about Kamala Harris' husband, Douglas Emhoff

How did Harris and Emhoff meet? As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the couple were set up by PR consultant Chrisette Hudlin in 2013.

The couple were married the following year. SFGate reported that the ceremony was lowkey, and took place in a Santa Barbara courthouse. Harris' sister, Maya Harris, presided over the nuptials. Her niece, Meena Harris, read a poem by Maya Angelou.

While Harris and her husband don't have children together, Emhoff has two children from a previous relationship, Cole and Ella. Harris is a devoted stepmother to Cole and Ella, who call her "Momala." In a piece for Elle in honor of Mother's Day in 2019, Harris wrote about her relationship with her stepchildren. "They are my endless source of love and pure joy," she wrote. Harris added, "I can say one thing with certainty, my heart wouldn't be whole, nor my life full, without them."
