Dallas weather: Storms leave trail of damage in North Texas

North Texas saw high winds and heavy rain on Tuesday morning, leaving a trail of damage across the area and knocking out power for thousands.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins issued a disaster declaration on Tuesday morning.
High winds topple trees in North Texas
The strong wind snapped trees and knocked out power to more than half a million homes and businesses in North Texas Tuesday morning. FOX 4's Dan Godwin reports the latest on storm damage in Forney.
We may not be done yet. Another round of storms is expected overnight and there are more chances to see severe weather later in the day.

Severe storm damages buildings in Dallas
The strong winds damaged a building in Dallas Tuesday morning. FOX 4's Tisia Muzinga reports live outside the business on Harry Hines Boulevard.
Parts of DFW are seeing damage this morning.
There was so much damage to a building on Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas that people calling 911 reported it had collapsed. First responders found the walls of the building still intact, but the strong winds had blown a significant amount of debris off the roof.

North Texas Power Outages
Sparking power lines in Carrollton cause explosion
FOX 4 viewer John Howell shares video of an explosion on Tuesday, May 28.
Oncor reports more than half a million homes and businesses in North Texas are without power this morning.
Officials say the outage could last multiple days.
Oncor said it has crews deployed and will work around the clock to restore power.
Reports are coming in that customers west of Fort Worth in White Settlement all the way east to Henderson County are without power.

North Texas Storm Conditions
Strong wind tears Talty, Texas tree
FOX 4 viewer Nichole Mcdonald shared this video clip of the strong wind at her home in Talty, Texas in Kaufman County. Several branches were torn from the tree during the storm.
The strongest wind gusts from this morning's storms were seen in The Colony where they topped out at 95 miles per hour.
DFW Airport reported seeing 77 mph wind gusts and Love Field saw 76 mph gusts.
Multiple 18-wheelers have been knocked over by the high winds.

DFW, Love Field flight delays, cancelations
More than 130 flights out of DFW and 40 from Love Field were canceled as of Tuesday morning.
Hundreds more were delayed.
School, events canceled
Garland ISD made the decision to close all schools and offices on Tuesday due to the severe weather.
DeSoto ISD announced that it is delaying the start of school by 2 hours because of temporary power interruptions at campuses.
Downpour at Dallas Love Field

The Dallas Zoo said it will be closed on Tuesday after seeing the damage.

Dallas weather: May 28 afternoon forecast
FOX 4 meteorologist Dylan Federico looks at the storms that left a trail of damage through North Texas on Tuesday morning and the chance for storms tonight.
The morning storm system was the first of two expected on Tuesday.
The second is expected in the nighttime hours into the early morning on Wednesday, especially to the west of DFW area and south.
Those storms could also be severe.
Damaging wind and large hail is the biggest concern on Tuesday night, but there could also be an isolated tornado.
