Cristiano Ronaldo added to his international goal and appearance tallies as Portugal ran out 6-0 winners over Luxembourg in their Euro 2024 qualifier on Sunday.
The Al Nassr forward made his 197th appearance for his country - a world record - to surpass the previous record set by Kuwait’s Bader Al-Mutawa in Thursday’s 4-0 victory against Liechtenstein.
In the win over Liechtenstein, Ronaldo scored a brace, and the former Real Madrid forward netted another double against Luxembourg on Sunday, to take his international tally to 122 goals.
Portugal top Group JThe 38-year-old found the net in the Group J clash in the ninth minute and grabbed his brace in the 31st minute in what was his 198th game for Portugal. Premier League players João Félix and Bernardo Silva also got on the scoresheet.
Second-half substitute Otavio made it 5-0 before Milan forward Rafael Leão added a sixth for Roberto Martínez’s men in the 88th minute.
Portugal have won their opening two qualifying games and already have a goal difference of +10.
Ronaldo top scorer in Portuguese historyWith his brace against Luxembourg, Ronaldo moves on to 122 international goals and is the top scorer in the history of the Portuguese national team.
Former striker Pauleta is second on the list with 47 goals and Portugal legend Eusebio is in third place in the all-time standings with 41 international goals.

Elsewhere in Group J, Iceland beat Liechtenstein 7-0, while Slovakia beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 in Bratislava.
