John Johnson III has been around Myles Garrett long enough to know he’ll probably try to play Sunday in Atlanta, but after the seeing photos of the smashed-up Porsche Garrett flipped multiple times on Monday, Johnson hopes he rests.

“I wouldn’t be surprised (if he plays),” Johnson said Wednesday. “I know he probably wants to. If you ask me, I believe he should just let it go. But I don't know. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he did, but that’s a tricky situation. I think he should just take it easy man.”

Garrett was not at the Browns facility on Wednesday, but coach Kevin Stefanski hasn’t ruled him out for Sunday. He said he’ll be at Browns headquarters on Thursday, and “we’ll see” if he practices then.

Stefanski was asked whether the trauma from the accident would affect his decision to play Garrett on Sunday. Garrett looked dazed as he sat next to the wrecked car and was eventually taken to the ambulance. He suffered a strained shoulder, a strain in his biceps, and a cut to his right hand but was cleared from a concussion.

“You take everything into account,” he said.

He stated that emphasizing safety for his players is a habit.

“I’m just grateful he’s okay,” Stefanski said.

To a man, Garrett’s teammates were also grateful Wednesday that he and his female passenger weren’t seriously injured. According to Tom Pelissero, NFL Network, Garrett overcorrected and swerved in order to avoid an animal.

Johnson was shocked to see Garrett's mangled Porsche.

“One hundred percent,” he said. “I don’t know the health of whoever his passenger was, but yeah, it is kind of crazy. Something like that happens, it’s just scary for anybody. But I heard that he was wearing his seatbelt. I don’t know if that helped out or not but that was good.

“They said they flipped over multiple times so anytime that happens, you at least have some type of major injury, but I’m just glad he came out of there clean.”
