Retro Film Review: Superman 3

Superman III (1983), directed by Richard Lester, is the third installment in the iconic Superman series starring Christopher Reeve. This film takes a lighter, more comedic approach, introducing Richard Pryor as Gus Gorman, a computer whiz who inadvertently causes chaos in Metropolis. The film is notable for its exploration of Superman’s darker side when exposed to synthetic kryptonite, creating a memorable battle between good and evil versions of the Man of Steel. While the blend of humor and superhero action is unique, the film struggles with tonal inconsistencies and an underwhelming villain. Still, it offers some intriguing moments and showcases Reeve’s versatility in the role.
