The Chiefs and Jaguars will meet on Sunday as part of the Week 2 NFL schedule. The Chiefs ended the Jaguars' season on their path toward winning Super Bowl LVII last season. Kansas City defeated Jacksonville, 27-20, in the Divisional Round of the playoffs and you can be sure the Jaguars are looking forward to the chance to meet again. Jacksonville is coming off a strong finish, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter last week to defeat the Colts, 31-21. The Chiefs dropped their home opener to the Lions, 21-20, in the 2023 NFL Kickoff Game. Before tuning into Sunday's Chiefs vs. Jaguars game, you need to see the NFL picks from SportsLine's advanced computer model. The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up over $7,000 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception. The model enters the 2023 NFL season on an incredible 163-114 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season. It is also on a 17-7 roll on top-rated NFL picks since Week 7 of last season.
The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past six years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94% of CBS Sports Football Pick'em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.
For Chiefs vs. Jaguars, the model is leaning Under the point total. Kansas City struggled in Week 1 without Travis Kelce, who missed the game after suffering a hyperextended knee in the Tuesday practice before Week 1. Kansas City scored 21 points, its fewest in 13 games including the playoffs, without Kelce and even though the eight-time Pro Bowler is active on Sunday, there's no guarantee he'll be as productive less than two weeks after suffering the injury.
Trevor Lawrence completed 24 of 32 passes for 241 yards against the Colts and made full use of new receiver Calvin Ridley. The latter had eight receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown in his first game following a season-long gambling suspension. Still, Kansas City will get a lift with the return of Chris Jones, who sat out the first game with a contract dispute before signing a new one-year contract to end his holdout. Jones, who led the defense with 15.5 sacks last season, won't make life easy on Lawrence.
Both teams have strong offenses, but 51 points is too many. Only three games reached 50 total points in Week 1 and the model shows the Under hits well over 50% of the time in simulations of this matchup. You may be able to stream the game here.
