Are Arsenal ready to challenge for the title? In a league that didn't include this current all-conquering Manchester City side, it wouldn't even be a debate that Arsenal can compete until the end for the Premier League title this season. However, the relentlessness that we have seen from the current champions means that the Gunners are still being doubted as challengers for their crown.
But should performances like the one we saw today banish any lingering doubts? I think so, but I can see why other people are not yet fully convinced.
For reference, here are the teams with the most points after 13 games in Premier League history. I should inform you that only one of the following teams (Newcastle) didn't go on to win the league.
- Manchester City (2017-18) - 37 points
- Liverpool (2019-20) - 37 points
- Manchester City (2011-12) - 35 points
- Manchester City (2018-19) - 35 points
- Arsenal (2022-23) - 34 points
- Manchester United (1993-94) - 34 points
- Newcastle United (1995-96) - 34 points
- Chelsea (2005-06) - 34 points
- Manchester United (2006-07) - 34 points

Potter: We haven't got too many complaints with the resultThe pressure already seems to be building on Potter just a few weeks into his tenure as Chelsea boss. While he always plays it off as bad luck, it feels like all the defensive injuries are really affecting his side. He was honest in his post-match interview as he admitted that Arsenal were the better side.
"I think we played against a team in a really good moment, a confident team," he told BT Sport. "You can see the points they have so credit to them. The boys gave everything, it was a huffing and puffing performance from us without the real quality that we need.
"Overall, I think Arsenal deserved to win. Whilst the goal's a disappointing one, over the course of the game we haven't got too many complaints with the result. I wouldn't say we lacked urgency. You have to see where the two teams are at; Arsenal are in a good moment with good confidence and been working together for a long time and we're probably in a different phase."

The maturity, composure, resilience and courage was phenomenal, says ArtetaLike Xhaka, Arteta has had to overcome some serious adversity during his time as Arsenal manager. He was under severe pressure but he was afforded time and patience by the Arsenal hierarchy which he is now repaying in bucket loads. He spoke to BT Sport after the match.
"Obviously we wanted to get back to the top but the competition is so difficult in this league," he said. "The challenge was for us to come to this stage against a top team and play and perform the way that we have done today. We deserved to win the game and the boys did that.
"I think for such a young team, the maturity they showed, the composure they showed, the resilience and the courage to play the way we wanted to play, it was phenomenal. It's easy to say before the game but actually to do it on the pitch against this opponent and these kind of players is a different story."

A very different atmosphere for Chelsea fansWhile there was ecstasy in the away end, it was frustration in the home end throughout the 90 minutes. They were second best all over the pitch for the whole game and Simon is absolutely right to call that performance woeful because it was, especially in the second half.

That was a woeful display by #CFC. Worse than against Brighton and that's saying something. No wins in four PL games now, just two points. #CHEARS

Xhaka: We deserved to win todayIt was another monumental shift from Xhaka in the middle of the park at Stamford Bridge. Speaking to BT Sport after the game, he claimed that Arsenal got everything their performance deserved.
"You can see the atmosphere (from the away end) is unbelievable," said the man who finished the game as Arsenal captain. "From the start until the end, I think we deserved to win today, we were the much, much, much better team today. We are so happy that everything is going well at the moment, we are keeping everything that the coaches are telling us and these are the results.
"After the season, nobody asks you how you won in November, December or January so we are trying to get as many points as possible and let's see where we end."

Arsenal return to the top of the Premier League!FT Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal
A huge win for Arsenal! They were absolutely brilliant and are fully deserving of another massive victory.
Chelsea, on the other hand, were very poor and hardly threatened Ramsdale — work to be done for Potter and his staff.

Xhaka kills some time brilliantly90+2' Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal
Who is this calm, composed man that has replaced Granit Xhaka? The Arsenal midfielder holds the ball in the corner before getting into a scuffle with Chalobah.
He has half the Chelsea team pushing and pulling him but stays ice cool, I never thought I'd say that about Xhaka!

Sterling booked for bringing Partey down89' Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal
Sterling is the next Chelsea player to be shown a yellow card by the referee. Like his team mates before him, he commits a cynical foul, this time on Partey, and is shown a caution.

Elneny replaces Odegaard87' Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal
Not quite a vintage Odegaard performance today but he was still very solid in the midfield for Arsenal. Arteta clearly wants to add more steel to his side in the final minutes so his captain is taken off for Elneny.
Xhaka is given the armband by his midfield partner.

Gallagher booked for foul on Tierney85' Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal
As easy a yellow card as you'll see all season. Tierney bursted past Gallagher and the Chelsea substitute pulled him down.
Yellow card, free-kick.

Chelsea being urged to push for an equaliser by the home fans84' Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal
While the players are struggling to provide any attacking impetus, the home fans are trying their hardest to get Chelsea back into the game. They're making their voices heard but Arsenal are dealing excellently with everything being thrown at them.

VAR denies Arsenal potential penalty81' Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal
Cucurella is very, very lucky there. The ball definitely struck his outstretched arm but, as it was a few centimetres outside the box, VAR couldn't award a penalty. I'm not quite sure how Oliver missed it initially though, he was right on top of it.
