Brownsville: A Community in Mourning
The city of Brownsville, Texas is reeling after the tragic deaths of eight people at the hands of a gunman. The victims, all of whom were Mexican nationals, were shot and killed in a Walmart parking lot in nearby El Paso. The senseless act of violence has left the community in shock and mourning.
Vigils Planned to Honor the Victims

One such vigil was held at the Ozanam migrant shelter in Brownsville, just five miles from the Texas-Mexico border. The shelter provides assistance and support to migrants and refugees, many of whom are seeking asylum in the United States. First responders and members of the local Catholic Diocese also attended the vigil.
