Mac Jones, Patriots dominate Browns as Baker Mayfield leaves game with knee injury

Mac Jones and the Patriots offense dominated the Browns on Sunday afternoon in New England, going for more than 400 total yards and 30 first downs while converting 7 of 9 third downs in the Patriots' 45-7 victory. Jones, the Patriots' first-round pick, threw for three touchdowns for the first time in his career. He went for 199 yards and no interceptions in the rout, moving the Pats to 6-4. They've now won four consecutive games and five of their last six.

Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson ran for two scores, a career first. He finished the day with 99 yards and two touchdowns. New England entered the break with a 24-7 halftime lead and didn't relent in the second half, tacking on another 20 points to drop the Browns to 5-5. The Patriots went for 452 yards of total offense and averaged 7.3 yards per play, needing to punt only once all game. Hunter Henry caught two of Jones' three TD passes.

It was already a rough day for Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, who went just 11 of 21 for 73 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Mayfield exited the game vs. the Patriots with a knee injury in the third quarter and didn't return. Mayfield limped off on his own after taking a hit from Patriots LB Matt Judon. Cleveland's offense was stuck in neutral all afternoon: The Browns went 1 for 10 on third down and allowed five sacks. Backup Case Keenum entered the game for Mayfield in the third quarter.

With the game all but over, backup QB Brian Hoyer entered for Jones and threw a late touchdown to Jakobi Meyers, the first of the third-year WR's career. He dove into the end zone to finish the catch and run, and the whole sideline came out to celebrate at Gillette Stadium.
