Tupperware files for bankruptcy after years of declining sales
Known for its plastic food storage containers, the company has faced years of declining sales.

(Gray News) - Tupperware, the company known for its plastic food storage containers and sales parties, and some of its subsidiaries have started Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

The company, which was founded in 1946, made the announcement Tuesday in a press release.

Tupperware says it is seeking court approval to facilitate a sale process for the business during the bankruptcy proceedings. The company hopes to keep operating in the meantime.

Facing years of declining sales, Tupperware says it has been working to modernize its operations within the last year and become a digital-first company.
