Odds of winning the Powerball and Mega Millions are NOT in your favor

Odds of hitting the jackpot in Mega Millions or Powerball are around 1-in-292 million. Here are things that you're more likely to land than big bucks.

After no grand prize winner from Wednesday's drawing, the Powerball jackpot for Wednesday now sits at $1.3 billion with a cash value of $608.9 million.

The grand prize ranks as the fourth-largest Powerball jackpot and ninth-largest U.S. lottery jackpot, placing it one ranking below the $1.128 billion Mega Millions jackpot that was won in Neptune, New Jersey, last Tuesday, according to powerball.com.

Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot is currently at $97 million with a cash value of $45 million after there was no grand prize winner during Friday's drawing.

Currently, there's a delay in the drawing due to a technical issue.

"Tonight, we have one participating lottery that needs additional time to complete required pre-draw procedures, which have been enacted to protect the security and integrity of the Powerball game," read a statement on Powerball's website.

"Powerball game rules require that every single ticket sold nationwide be checked and verified against two different computer systems before the winning numbers are drawn. This is done to ensure that every ticket sold for the Powerball drawing has been accounted for and has an equal chance to win. Tonight, we have one jurisdiction that needs extra time to complete that pre-draw process."

Lottery officials advised players to hold onto their tickets and that "when the required pre-draw procedures are complete, the Powerball drawing will be performed under the supervision of lottery security officials and independent auditors."

"Please keep your tickets. We look forward to drawing the winning numbers as soon as possible," lottery officials said in a statement at 1:05 a.m. EST Sunday.
