Google Pixel 7 vs. Apple iPhone 14 vs. Samsung Galaxy S22: The $200 Difference

Google's new $599 (£599, AU$999) Pixel 7 is the latest flagship phone from the company meant to compete against established phone leaders like Apple's iPhone 14 and Samsung's Galaxy S22.
The Pixel 7's Tensor processor is new. It features a camera that has improved zoom, face unlock, and an updated design. Google is also keeping the $599 price of last year's Pixel 6 which was $200 lower than the $799 iPhone 14 or the $800 Galaxy S22. The price differential is unchanged from last year, but it's likely to be more significant this year, as shoppers face rising prices as well as a possible global recession.
Despite the price advantage, Apple and Samsung offer many features that may make it worth the extra money. For instance, Samsung's Galaxy S22 has a fancy telephoto camera for capturing faraway objects, which isn't available on the Pixel 7 -- you have to spend up for the $899 Pixel 7 Pro to get that sweet optical zoom. The Galaxy S22 will receive four years of software upgrades, while the Pixel 7 will receive three years.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 debuted a variety of safety features like car-crash detection (which debuted on Pixel phones years ago) and support for satellite-based emergency messaging. Apple's phones get many years of software updates. The iPhone 8 , iPhone 8 , and iPhone 8 received this year's iOS16 update.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 is back to the flat screens of its predecessor, the Galaxy S7. The regular Galaxy S22 has a 6.1-inch display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Even though it's smaller than its larger brothers, it's still a formidable beast.
