HARRISONBURG, Va. – Former James Madison All-American Aaron Stinnie earned a spot on the 53-man roster with the New York Giants, while four other former standouts were placed on practice squads as the NFL opens the 2024 season. Stinnie, an offensive lineman, is in his first season with the Giants and his seventh overall after previously being with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since late 2019, where he won Super Bowl LV on Feb. 7, 2021. He's played in 31 career regular-season games with 12 starts. Joining him in the NFL ranks on practice squads to begin the new season are offensive lineman Liam Fornadel (New England Patriots) and defensive linemen Mike Greene (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Jamree Kromah (Chicago Bears) and Isaac Ukwu (Detroit Lions). Greene is in his third season in the NFL, all with the Bucs, as he earned a contract in May 2022 with the franchise. He played in 10 games with two starts a season ago, making six tackles. Greene was also a practice-squad member for Tampa in 2022. Fornadel, Kromah and Ukwu each make their NFL debut. Fornadel was signed by New England as a free agent in June 2024 after playing the previous two seasons with the DC Defenders of the UFL and formerly XFL. He started all 20 games the last two years, earning All-XFL status in 2023. Kromah, who was selected to the 99th East-West Shrine Bowl earlier this year, was a 2023 HERO Sports Group of Five First Team All-American and First Team All-Sun Belt selection. In 13 starts for the Dukes last fall, Kromah had 60 tackles with 20.5 for a loss, 11.0 sacks, a forced fumble and one recovery. He was ranked tied for second in the FBS with a Sun Belt-leading TFL total. His 11.0 sacks also ranked eighth in FBS and third in the league. Ukwu spent six seasons with the Dukes before closing his career at Ole Miss in 2023. During his time at JMU, he tallied 27.5 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks with three forced fumbles and one recovery. In his final season in 2022, the College Football Network Honorable Mention All-American and First Team All-Sun Belt honoree had 10.5 TFL and 7.5 sacks in 11 starts. For Ole Miss last year, Ukwu started five of 13 games, totaling 30 tackles with 4.5 TFL and 3.5 sacks. Additionally, 2004 national champion quarterback Justin Rascati enters his sixth season as an NFL coach and his first as pass game coordinator with the Cincinnati Bengals. He previously had stops in Minnesota (2022-23) and Denver (2019-21).
