How Indiana Dunes became a national park

Indiana Dunes, which comprises 15,000 acres in northern Indiana along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, was recently named a national park. Here's how that happened.

Puzzle lovers have scrambled to Google today to find the names of national parks hiding in today's NYT Strands, which was themed "American beauty."

According to the National Park Service, Indiana has four national parks, some of which are spread across multiple states.

Which national parks are in Indiana?

Here's a look at which national parks you can find in the Hoosier state. Find more information about each at nps.gov.

A key site in the Revolutionary War, this park can be found in Vincennes.

The Indiana Dunes cover 15 miles of Indiana coast and more than 50 miles of trails through sand dunes, woods, prairies and wetlands, according to the National Park Service.

This trail runs through several U.S. states, including Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio. According to the National Park Service, it follows routes in Lewis and Clark's expedition in the early 1800s.

Kentucky may claim the first memorial to Abraham Lincoln, but he also spent part of his youth in Southern Indiana, according to NWS. This site can be found in Lincoln City.
