Megan Fox's Engagement Ring from Machine Gun Kelly Holds a *Super* Special Meaning

Huge congratulations are in order for Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly — a.k.a the Internet's favorite couple — as they got engaged on Tuesday, January 11. The couple took to Instagram to post heartfelt messages about the special moment in their relationship. The Jennifer's Body star was first to share the news with fans, posting a video of the engagement that took place under a Banyan tree where she said she and MGK asked for magic in July 2020.

"And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes. …and then we drank each other's blood," Megan closed off her caption. While she got to reflect on her engagement to the "Bloody Valentine" singer, Machine Gun Kelly had the honors of showing off the stunning engagement ring he picked out for her. He opened up about the deeply personal meaning the ring symbolizes in regard to their whirlwind romance.

"'yes, in this life and every life' ???? beneath the same branches we fell in love under, i brought her back to ask her to marry me," he wrote. "I know tradition is one ring, but i designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love. 1-11-2022 ✨"

Stephen Webster, the jeweler behind the ring, also commented on the details of the design, which features two interlocking thorn bands holding the pear-shaped gems. "Created in 18ct white Gold, pavé set with colourless natural Diamonds. The Diamond is a D colour antique cut and the Emerald an extraordinary completely untreated Colombian gem," Stephen wrote on an Instagram post celebrating the engagement.

As for the price tag on the custom-designed ring, there aren't any official statements from Stephen Webster or MGK and Megan. Kathryn Money, senior vice president of merchandising and retail at jewelry brand Brilliant Earth, estimates that it costs between $300,000 to $400,000 "depending on the quality and specific characteristics of the center and side stones." Kathryn adds that the diamond pear equates to about 4-5 carats while the emerald pear is 4-4.5 carats.

The carat weight of gems usually determines the price or value of the jewelry. According to Kathryn, gem merchants used carob seeds in the past to help weigh gemstones and diamonds because the seeds were uniform in weight and size. "We determine estimated price and carat weight a bit differently today. When we look at the 4 C's — Color, Clarity, Cut and Carat — estimating carat weight, in particular, allows us to then guestimate the price of the diamond," Kathryn tells Seventeen."For colored gemstones, depending on the quality, emeralds (among others) may also be priced per carat."

Engagement rings traditionally represent the love, dedication, and commitment a couple has for one another, but MGK reallllly took it to the next level with the personal touch of his and Megan's birthstones. Plus, the thorns on the band add a pinch of the punk aesthetic that the duo is highly known for. I could not think of a more perfect symbol of love for these two.
