Florida State has its hands full Saturday night.

The Seminoles (6-5, 4-4 in ACC) are heavy 17-point underdogs as they look to win their fifth straight game at No. 8 Florida (9-2, 6-2 in SEC) at 7:30 p.m. The game is being broadcast on the SECNetwork.

The Gators have a likely spot in aNew Year's Six bowl on the line. For the Seminoles? Only bragging rights as they look to avoid a second straight loss to UF.

There were plenty of questions about the FSU depth chart entering Saturday's game. As for the quarterback position, James Blackman, Alex Hornibrook and Jordan Travis were all listed as co-starters.

Junior running back Cam Akers is expected to return against the Gators after missing the Alabama State game. The same is true for junior tight end Tre' McKitty.

Gators milk clock, finish off win

After going up 40-17 on the first play of the fourth quarter, Florida entered run-clock mode, content to rest on a thoroughly convincing victory.

The Seminoles had one more good chance to score after a turnover on downs gave them the ball at the UF 20. They went three-and-out, though, and missed the ensuing field goal.

The Gators finished with eight sacks, taking advantage of FSU's shoddy and beat-up offensive line as expected. UF outgained FSU 467-250 and the final score didn't really feel as close as the wide margin indicated.

FSU finishes the regular season 6-6 (4-4 in ACC) and awaits its postseason -- and new head coach -- fate. The silver lining, for whatever that's worth, is FSU will return to a bowl this season.

Long UF drive ends with field goal

FSU again allowed UF to move inside the five, but this time came up with a stop, holding the Gators to a field goal.

UF moved backward after creating a first and goal at the half-yard line and the drive wound up being finished by a 21-yard field goal by kicker Evan McPherson.

The field goal extends the Gators' lead to 40-17 with 14:50 left.

Akers gets FSU another touchdown

The game may be all but over, but that isn't stopping the FSU offense from finding some success.

The Seminoles responded to the UF touchdown with a pair of first downs that moved the ball to midfield. From there, Akers busted a 50-yard touchdown run to give the Seminoles their first touchdown since their opening drive.

The long touchdown gives Akers 77 yards on 11 carries and was his 18th total touchdown of the season. In the final minutes of the third quarter, FSU trails No. 8 Florida 37-17.

UF adds another touchdown from Jefferson

FSU scored a field goal on its first drive of the second half, but the Gators responded with a touchdown.

UF moved the ball 75 yards over 11 plays, converting two third downs and a fourth down to find the endzone once again. The touchdown came when back-up quarterback Emory Jones found Van Jefferson for a six-yard touchdown.

The Gators have scored on six of their seven drives and lead FSU 37-10 with 6:29 left in the third quarter.

FSU scores on first drive of second half

While the result feels in hand, FSU showed with its opening drive of the second half that it isn't giving up.

The Seminoles moved the ball 44 yards in 10 plays, breaking into the red zone before a penalty pushed them out. Still, FSU picked up two first downs after it had one in its final five drives of the first half and capped off the drive with points with Ricky Aguayo hit a 48-yard field goal.

With 12:13 left in the third quarter, FSU trails Florida 30-10.

UF builds lead entering half

After the FSU punt, UF's two-minute drill paid off with its fifth score of the first half. A 50-yard field goal from Evan McPherson gave the Gators a 30-7 halftime lead over the Seminoles.

FSU amassed 75 yards on its opening scripted drive and had just 20 yards of offense on its final five drives of the first half. UF is doubling the Seminoles in yards per play (7.3 to 3.5).

Trask throws third touchdown for Florida

FSU appeared to get a turnover that could have turned the tide significantly. Instead, an inexplicable penalty negated the momentum shift. UF added to its lead shortly after.

The Seminoles appeared to recover a muffed UF punt, but it was wiped out by an illegal formation penalty. FSU had to re-punt and the Gators fielded it cleanly this time.

Shortly after, UF quarterback Kyle Trask threw his third touchdown pass, this time to Van Jefferson in the red zone. After another FSU punt on a drive mostly helmed by Jordan Travis, UF takes over up 27-7 with 1:40 left in the first half.

UF adds to lead with another Swain touchdown

After FSU punted for the first time in the game for either team, the Gators padded their lead with a quick three-play, 85-yard drive to pad its lead.

The big play was a 47-yard catch by UF's Kadarius Toney and the touchdown was a 23-yard touchdown catch by Freddie Swain, his second of the game.

While the drive was bad for the FSU defense, the worst moment came when starting safety standout Hamsah Nasirildeen suffered what appears to be a severe leg injury on Toney's catch. He had an air cast applied to his left leg and was carted off the field, giving the tomahawk chop while doing so.

On the final play of the first quarter, Nasirildeen became the first FSU player to record 100 tackles since Reggie Northrup did so in 2014. On an extremely depleted FSU defense, Nasirildeen was the best player left. It's hard to overstate how big a loss that is if it's season-ending, which itdefinitely appears to be.

Florida reclaims lead

UF made it three drives and three touchdowns for both teams when it scored on its second possession of the game against the Seminoles.

FSU again forced a fourth and one just outside the red zone and appeared to stuff a run that would have forced a turnover on downs. However, an offsides penalty on Janarius Robinson gave UF a first down.

Plays later, UF running back Dameon Pierce scored on third and goal from the one, giving the Gators the lead back. A missed extra point made it 13-7 UF early in the second quarter.

On the ensuing FSU drive, Blackman just misseda wide-open Tamorrion Terry for what would have been an easy touchdown on first down. With a negative pass play on second down, the Seminoles eventually had to punt, the first of the game for either team. It remains 13-7 UF with 12:25 left in the first half.

FSU responds with a touchdown

After a methodical drive from Florida to start the game, the Seminoles responded with a drive of their own to level the score.

FSU ran a tricky hook-and-ladder play on first down and was into the red zone on the third play of the drive after a 43-yard pass to redshirt sophomore Tamorrion Terry.

The Seminoles needed to convert a fourth and one inside the UF five, but did so with a carry by Akers and scored three plays later on a keeper by Jordan Travis, capping off the 10-play scoring drive. With 5:59 left in the first quarter, it's 7-7 in the Swamp.

Florida takes early lead

On a string of winning coin tosses, FSU again won the coin toss and deferred, giving the Gators the ball first.

FSU twice got UF into third-and-long situations, forcing third and 10 on the first set of downs and third and 11 just outside the red zone, but the Gators converted both times.

UF quarterback Kyle Trask converted on fourth and one with a quarterback draw to move UF into the red zone and a screen pass to Freddie Swain on the very next play went 19 yards for a touchdown. The screen capped off an 11-play, 75-yard drive that gives the Gators a 7-0 lead with 10:19 left in the first quarter.
