Netflix's Eurovision movie - are the cast actually singing?

Netflixs Eurovision movie are the cast actually singing
Disappointing news ahead.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is now on Netflix to fulfil any of your Eurovision dreams.

The comedy sees Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams play Icelandic singers Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir, AKA Fire Saga, who are surprisingly chosen to represent their country at Eurovision.

No Eurovision movie would be complete without some Euro pop bangers and the comedy delivers on that front, but is it really the cast singing all of the songs on the soundtrack?

Sadly not.

The movie features 12 original songs including four co-written by Savan Kotecha, the writer behind the likes of Ariana Grande's 'God Is A Woman' and The Weeknd's 'Can't Feel My Face'.

Kotecha co-wrote Fire Saga's Eurovision entry, the infectious 'Double Trouble', and it features Will Ferrell's vocals. Rachel McAdams sang the beginning of most of Fire Saga's songs, but the main vocal performance comes from Molly Sandén, AKA My Marianne.

Eurovision fans will notice Sandén's name as she came third when she represented Sweden at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006. She also entered Sweden's Eurovision contest, Melodifestivalen, but never won on the three occasions she competed.

"I felt like a failure the last time I tried to compete for Sweden because the plan was for me to win. It now feels so good to come back from this angle," she told BBC Newsbeat. "It feels like I'm coming back to Eurovision… but this time I'm winning."

In the final movie, McAdams does sing one song in its entirety (when Sigrit is practising 'Husavik'), but the majority of Fire Saga's songs see McAdams begin the song, before her voice was blended with Sandén's.

McAdams studied guitar and piano for the role to play Sigrit during her stage performances. "This was unlike any movie either of us has ever done, and she didn't bat an eye," praised Ferrell.

As for Russian favourite Alexander Lemtov, Dan Stevens is brilliant in the role, but those aren't his vocals on 'Lion of Love'.

It was another song that Kotecha co-wrote, and opera singer Erik Mjönes supplies the final vocals for Lemtov's outrageous Eurovision performances, as well as in the cameo-filled medley at Lemtov's pre-Eurovision party.

The original plan though was that Stevens would sing in the final movie, but the current global situation prevented him from doing so. "They stuck with a very talented Swedish baritone," he told Attitude.

We wonder if Stevens could match Lemtov's extended high note...
