AGT results Did country singer Drake Milligan make it to finals
The first live results show of this season of "America's Got Talent" saw Drake Milligan learn his fate and a shocking result that upset Simon Cowell.

The first live results show of this "America's Got Talent" season saw a fan favorite learn his fate and a shocking result that upset judge Simon Cowell.

During Wednesday's show, the 11 contestants who performed last night were whittled down to five, then three and then two, as host Terry Crews gradually announced the results of America's overnight vote. The top two earned a spot in the "AGT" finale for a chance at the $1 million prize and a headlining show in Las Vegas, while the rest were eliminated.

Judges Heidi Klum, Sofía Vergara, Howie Mandel and Cowell looked on, often in shock, but couldn't do anything about the results, which were entirely up to America.

Fans also got to witness another "AGT" shocker: Cowell admitting he was wrong. The notoriously hard-to-please judge opened the show with an apology to Colombian dance duo Stefanny and Yeremy for hitting the X during their performance the night prior. Vergara had called him "loco" for the harsh feedback.

"I buzzed the two dancers, and I watched it back, and I am loco so I apologize," he admitted.

Here's who went home and who made the finale:

In true reality competition fashion, Crews drew out the results over the course of the hour-long show, first calling up the acts in pairs and revealing which had made the Top 5 and which are eliminated.

First up: Dance group Amoukanama and comedian Lace Larrabee stepped forward. The dance group won out. "You’re already winners," Mandel told them. "Congratulations, you deserve to be here."

Next, the Players choir beat out Ukrainian contortionist Oleksandr Yenivatov, and saxophonist Avery Dixon, whom Cowell predicted would break out like former "American Idol" contestant Carrie Underwood, made it over Stefanny and Yeremy.

A tense moment came when school shooting survivor and singer Ava Swiss was called with comedian Don McMillan. Cowell's eyes went wide when Crews announced McMillan would move forward over Swiss.

"I'm gonna be honest with you," Cowell told McMillan after the reveal. "We are losing people, and I'm really happy for you. I’m also upset at the moment."

Finally, country singer Drake Milligan, cheese enthusiast Ben Lapidus and dog trainer The Amazing Veranica & Her Incredible Friends found out which of them seized the final spot in the top five.

After a tense pause, Milligan came out on top.

The first act revealed to make it into the final was country singer Drake Milligan.
But only two could go to the 'AGT' finale

Then, five became three, with Dixon, McMillan and Milligan as the remaining contestants.

The first act revealed to make it into the finals was Milligan.

"I feel like you are 'America’s Got Talent's greatest success story already," Klum told the country crooner, whose songs have charted since he's performed them on the show.

And finally, the last act to make it through was Dixon, who landed the Golden Buzzer from Crews after his initial audition.

"You, young man, are already a winner," Mandel told the young saxophonist. "You have changed your life. You have changed your world. And we love you."

The quarterfinals continue, with another 11 acts taking the stage next week.
