Max Verstappens win streak Lando Norris big finish and more from
McLaren's Lando Norris secured his highest career finish at his home circuit as fellow British driver Lewis Hamilton finished third in his Mercedes.

It doesn't look like Red Bull Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen is capable of taking his foot off the pedal. Verstappen continued his hot streak on Sunday with a win at the British Grand Prix, his sixth consecutive race win this season and his second career win at Silverstone.

McLaren's Lando Norris and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton finished second and third, respectively, marking the first time since 1999 that two Brits finished on the podium at their home race.

Verstappen's win extends his lead in the drivers championship to 255 points and extends Red Bull's lead in the constructors championship to 411 points. The Dutch driver has won nine of the last 11 Grands Prix, giving him a chance to tie the second-longest F1 win streak when he hits the track at the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 23.

“Of course, very happy that we won again,” Verstappen said during his post-race broadcast interview. “I mean, 11 wins in a row for the team, I think that’s pretty incredible, but it wasn’t straightforward today. I was doing a bit of drifting on Thursday with marketing, and it felt like I was doing that also in the start, which wasn’t very good – it was very bad. We’ll look into that, because I think the last few starts were actually a lot better, and today wasn’t that great.

“But at least it made it a bit more exciting, I had to push for it. Lando didn’t really put up a fight, he was very nice to me, but then he actually came back again in the DRS, so he had a lot of pace today – he did very well today.”

Here's everything else you need to know about the British Grand Prix.

Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri finish second, fourth for McLaren

McLaren's Lando Norris had a nightmare June. He finished 17th in the Spanish Grand Prix and 13th in the Canadian Grand Prix.

McLaren then brought upgrades to the car, which helped the Belgian-British driver to his best two race results of the season. Norris followed up his fourth-place finish in Austria last week with a second-place finish Sunday, keeping Lewis Hamilton at bay after a tough fight. The result left fans chanting Norris' name during his post-race interview.

"It’s pretty amazing, pretty insane," Norris said. "It was an amazing fight with Lewis, to hold him off. I made a few too many mistakes, maybe, but I did what I could. I brought the fight to Max for as long as possible. It’s a long, lonely race when you’re just in the middle, but it’s amazing.”

The McLaren team had a strong day with rookie Oscar Piastri finishing fourth. Hamilton described the upgraded McLaren as a "rocketship."

“I just want to say a big thanks first of all to the whole team," Norris said. "They’ve done an amazing job and none of this would be possible without the hard work that they’ve been putting in."

Lewis Hamilton gets podium for Mercedes at home race

A season low eighth-place finish last week at the Austrian Grand Prix didn't carry over for Lewis Hamilton this week. The Mercedes driver secured a third-place on Sunday, giving him a top-three finish in three of the last four races.

Hamilton's Mercedes teammate George Russell finished fifth, putting the Silver Arrows in second place in the constructors championship with 203 points. Hamilton sits in fourth in the drivers standings (121 points) while Russell sits in sixth (82 points.)
