ITHACA, N.Y. – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association named Ithaca College graduate student Taylor Volmrich was named a First Team All-American as announced by the association. Volmrich is also a finalist for the Division III Athlete of the Year Award. This is the second-straight season in which Volmrich was honored as an All-American as she placed on the Second Team in 2023. In its third year, the Athlete of the Year award provides a unique opportunity for the CRCA to acknowledge and recognize the individual efforts, impactful actions, and remarkable outcomes achieved over the academic year—a span during which these student-athletes have undeniably left a positive impact on their respective teams. To earn All-America honors, student-athletes are evaluated on the basis of boat performance, nomination rank, coach's comments, individual achievements and 2-kilometer erg score. A preseason CRCA Athlete to Watch, Volmrich rowed in the eight seat in the Ithaca varsity eight this season. They helped the Bombers capture their sixth consecutive Liberty League women's rowing crown as the 1V8 finished second at the NYS Championships behind Marist and most recently put together a fifth-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championships. Volmrich becomes the 27th First Team All-American selection in Ithaca women's rowing history. The 12 Bombers that earned CRCA Scholar-Athlete status included Emma Anderson, Lily Babcock, Melanie Belmont, Samantha Gallagher, Emma Hammel, Caroline Hoskins, Kai Lincke, Hope Oliveira, Zoe Paradis Stern, Emma Thorne, Laura Trainor and Erin Trojan. To earn CRCA Scholar-Athlete status, student-athletes must be in their second, third or fourth year of eligibility, row in 75 percent of the team's spring races in an NCAA-eligible boat, and maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA.The awards continued to pile up for the Bombers with head coach Becky Robinson picking up CRCA Division III New York Region Coach of the Year award while assistant coaches Beth Greene and Devi de Oliveira garnered CRCA Division III New York Region Staff of the Year honors. Ithaca College finished the season ranked fifth in the final Pocock/CRCA Coaches Poll of the 2024 season.
